The Chemical Safety Agency of MOTIE published "a commentary" easy to understand on small-quantity handling facility standards of noxious chemical substance.

This commentary is designed to help the related businesses easily understand by utilizing Q&A cases and pictures on judgement method, standards, inspections, regulations and terminologies of small-quantity hazardous chemical substance-handling facilities.

That is to say, if the business is not in an industrial complex, things such as regulations, in which the small-amount standards of hazardous chemicals are applied to less than 50% and judged, are illustrated easily. Also, to make it easier to understand the standards of handling facilities, each description is accompanied by a related picture.

As a main example, the content related to the standard, that signs to restrict access to the public must be installed in hazardous chemical storage facilities, is illustrated by a picture.

This commentary will appear on Nurijib of Chemical Safety Agency(nices.me.go.kr) and Korea Environment Corporation(www.keco.or.kr), and be distributed to the handling facilities and Facility Inspection Agencies of noxious chemical substance. It is expected that the safety level of handling facilities, through this commentary, will be improved by small businesses easily understanding the standards of small-quantity handling facilities of noxious chemical substance.

The small-quantity handling regulations of noxious chemical substance vary depending on flammability, oxidation, toxicity and explosion.

10 kinds of substances such as phosgene, which has the lowest daily handling standards, are less than 5 kilograms. And 298 kinds of substances with the highest daily handling ones such as sodium hydroxide are less than 400 kilograms. As of May.2019, the number of hazardous chemical substance managed by MOTIE is 1.127 kinds.
